What is your favourite time in history?
It is hard to pin point one period or theme in History as a favorite as there are so many great stories that have occurred throughout the past. Thanks for visiting Dr Nicky!
What topics should my daughter be studying for her fifth form exams?
My favourite time in history would have to be the major battle between Julius Cesar and Pompi. Then again the battle of Agincourt was pretty cool aswell.
Hey Sam I'm glad you found that interesting. I like prefer good social history over military history but I have always found the Battle of the Alamo really interesting. How about the Battle of Thermopily?
The 5th Form/Year 11 exam topics your daughter should be revising are: Stalinist Russia and the Battle of Paschendale or the 1981 Springbok Tour.
hey mr w iyou told me that if i tryed to revise then i could do better than what i did on my term 3 test so i was wondering what sort of stuff do i have to revise on for the term 4 test in week for ???????
Alex, you should go over your green skills workbook from the beginning of the year. Also, review in your 2B5 any skills work you have done. And, keep working hard in class!!!
Sir what is included in the 5th column
The "5th Column" would be good if you wanted to use collectivisation and Trotsky in your causes and to highlight Stalins paranoia. Stalin saw enemies everywhere and he thought that collectively they could rise up together against him. He thought there were groups of Trotsky supporters(called Trotskyites) and masses of unhappy people from collectivisation that would lead such a rebellion. The Kulaks will have suffered in the purges because of these paranoia's. Stalin wasn't entirely wrong but he grossly exagerated their presence and overreacted towards them in the purges.
All together those dissatisfied with Stalin or those who disagreed with him were regarded as a possible "5th Column"
Hi Mr Westberry! Is there any last minute things us year nine's need to know about the exam? Please reply as soon as possible. Thank you!
No last minute stuff. Things you have done throughout the year. Like has been said, study the good work in your 2B5, the first 20 pages in your green book, and the website. Go over the study advice in the website link on what and how to study.
Also, Mr Westberry, I have found the answer to the "prize question". His words were, and I quote :" Joy to you, we've won."
Do we need a protractor for the exam tomorrow?
If you can bring one that would be good in case you have to do some pie chart work.
is there any major key terms that we should go over from this year
Sir, for the springbok tour, what does 'care' stand for? Cos i have read lots different possible answers and I dont wanna get it wrong.
Hi Aana That acronym stands for Citizens Association for racial Equality. A good website that includes details about that group:
sir, could u give me a name of a leader in the military who was killed in purge??!
Not an easy name to remember but Marshal Tukhachevsky was the top Red Army officer and a victim of the Purges. You could say in your essay that as many as %50 percent of the army's officers were purged leaving the military more unprepared and unready for the coming war with Germany.
i was wondering if you could tell me ur email pleasse thanks alot
hey mr you know how you like to break canes on tables....... well i found all the pieces and glued them together! would love to heear how america is going.
When you come back from your tour in America I will give it to you. ;)
Have fun see you in my year 11.
How do you want us to answer the "Timeline questions." I am just going to look them up on google. Is that ok? And hows your tour going in america?
I'm assuming David Reynolds!?! Your timeline questions were due a few days ago and were posted on the homepage. They went along with the timeline that you were provided in class. Looking forward to seeing your answers on google docs!!! You've had a couple of very good classes, keep it up.
Hey Mr. Westberry! I was wondering what we were supposed to do for the news cast thing. I am doing mine on Cleopatra so should i just talk about her and her life? I dont know but hopefully you will check this even thought its pretty late haha. Thank you!
Hey Avery Don't get to involved with this yet. Just get familiar with the details of what you might do some work on. When it comes time you do an article about her becoming Pharaoh. Information on this task would give an idea of different types of leadership for when that becomes a focus. Remember, geography impacting people is a focus of the current learning target. So if you can slip that into your upcoming work somehow it will relate to our current focus. Mr W
Hello Mr. Westberry. So I was wondering what questions you wanted us to do for the section 3 review.
Write something about yourself. No need to be fancy, just an overview.
